The Flexible Persona

General Submissions: 

We read for engaging, character-driven fiction in which there is a marriage between plot and story. We are open to all genres. We also read for sharp-edged poetry. We crave creative nonfiction with a clear narration that explores both the large and the small of what it means to be human.

The Flexible Persona produces biannual print issues (April/May and October). Simultaneous submissions accepted. As the author, you retain all rights and copyright to your work. You are granting The Flexible Persona nonexclusive rights to publish your previously unpublished work.

NOTE: OUR SUBMISSIONS ARE ROLLING.

• We accept fiction submissions between 1,200 and 6,500 words. 

• We accept up to 3 poems per submission. Please upload all three in the same document.

• We accept up to 3 flash pieces per submission. Please upload all three in the same document.

• We accept creative nonfiction submissions up to 6,500 words.

Payment:
We pay for both print & online fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. For details, see categories. 

Except for the contest entry fee, all fees below are not reading fees but online submission fees. If you cannot pay the fee, please visit the site for details on mailing your submission.
